Map your Business Ecosystem & Customer Journey

An exercise to find the simplest version of your business, and see exactly how all the pieces fit together.

This exercise is the companion to the episode of the Quietly Disruptive podcast called: “How to find the simplest version of your business ecosystem”. Listen to the episode and fill in the workbook as you go.

If your business has ever felt more complicated than it needs to be, this exercise will show you why, and what to do about it.

Most founders build by accumulation. One reasonable decision at a time, until the business becomes harder to see, harder to explain, and harder to navigate than it ever needed to be.

This workbook strips everything back to basics. Using the customer journey as the guide, it maps the minimum viable version of your business, the skeleton where every piece has a specific job to do and connects to the next.

It covers six stages and pinpoints the path a client takes from first finding you to the ongoing relationship, and in turn outlines entire business ecosystem. The stages include:

  • The Discovery — how the right people find out you exist

  • The Welcome — what they do when they find you

  • The Relationship — how trust builds before they're ready to say yes

  • The Yes — how they become a client

  • The Experience — the one offer that serves them completely

  • The Onwards Journey — what keeps the relationship alive after the work ends

Listen to the podcast episode, fill it in as you go, and you'll see exactly what's working in your business, and where the right pieces aren't quite in the right places. The aim here is to show you what pieces you need in the right places, and how simple you business can be, if you want it to.

Simple businesses aren't small businesses. They're specific ones. This exercise is how you find yours.
