Summer Reads to Dream, Reflect & Reset

Books to Inspire Your Next Chapter

There’s something about summer that invites a pause. Maybe it’s the slower mornings, the light stretching late into the evening, or the feeling that life has just a little more room to breathe.

For me, summer is the perfect time to reset, to step back, reflect, and realign with what really matters. That’s the heart of The Quiet Reset retreat. And it’s also the spirit behind this reading list.

These six books have each played a part in shaping how I think, plan, and dream, and I’m recommending them to anyone craving clarity, change, or the courage to do more of what they love.

So if you're looking for some soulful, thought-provoking reading this summer, here are my picks:

The Power of Moments by Chip Heath & Dan Heath

This book is a beautiful reminder that life isn’t about all the moments, it’s about the meaningful ones. Chip and Dan Heath explore what makes certain experiences unforgettable, and how we can design more of those defining moments in our lives and work. It’s a must-read for anyone looking to create more impact, connection, and joy, both for themselves and others. I love the story about the John Deere tractor!

Why I love this book: This book helps you zoom in on what really makes life meaningful, and gives you tools to create more of those moments on purpose.

Do What You Love by Holly Tucker

Holly Tucker (co-founder of Not On The High Street) writes with warmth and honesty about the journey of doing work you love. This isn’t a shiny, hustle-culture business book, it’s practical, heartfelt, and deeply encouraging. Whether you’re starting something new, or trying to reconnect with your “why,” this book is a gentle nudge forward.

Why I love it: If you’ve lost sight of your passion, or never quite found it, this book is a joyful reminder that it’s not too late to begin again.

What’s Your Dream? by Simon Squibb

Part manifesto, part workbook, this is a punchy little book full of big encouragement. Simon Squibb believes everyone has a dream, and that too many of us never give ourselves permission to name it. This book helps you uncover what you really want, and start taking small, practical steps toward it.

Why it’s a must-read: It’s simple, inspiring, and reminds you that your dream doesn’t have to make sense to anyone but you.

Let Them Theory by Mel Robbins

This isn’t a whole book, technically. It’s a theory, a movement, and an idea that’s caught fire. Mel Robbins’ “Let Them” theory is simple: when people judge, doubt, or question you… let them. You don’t need to over-explain, justify, or hold yourself back. This theory gives you the freedom to pursue what matters to you, without constantly worrying about everyone else.

Why I adore this book: If you’re stuck in people-pleasing or second-guessing, this is a powerful mindset shift, short, sharp, and freeing.

Start With Why by Simon Sinek

You’ve probably heard of this one, but if you haven’t read it yet, summer is the perfect time (as it’s quite a heavy/chunky book, but one with a great message). Simon Sinek’s book is all about reconnecting to your why, the deeper reason behind what you do. It’s a book for business owners, creatives, and anyone wanting to lead (or live) with more purpose and clarity.

Why I recommend reading it: If you’ve been drifting, feeling disconnected or uninspired, this book will help you get back to your core.

The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen R. Covey

This one’s a classic, and for good reason. It’s packed with wisdom on how to manage your time, your mindset, your energy and your relationships in a way that’s actually sustainable. It’s about becoming more intentional with your life, and learning to act from values, not pressure.

Why you need to read it: It's not a quick fix, but a deep, steady guide for real change. Great if you’re ready to stop reacting and start consciously shaping your days.

If The Quiet Reset is about pausing to reconnect with what matters, these books are the companions for that journey. Whether you read one or all, I hope they spark something in you whether that’s a fresh idea, a clearer path, or just the reminder that dreaming and doing don’t have to be separate things.

Save this post, pick your first book, and let this be your summer of coming home to yourself.

Happy Reading!
